Salesforce Solution Architect
About The Position
Penn State University is hiring a Salesforce Solution Architect for its Enterprise Customer Relationship Management Program Team. The enterprise implementation is intended to advance engagement and service delivery for the university community—including faculty, students, staff, and alumni—through integrated solutions that create value across Penn State constituencies. The role designs and implements Salesforce enterprise solutions to meet business requirements for units across the University. The architect develops solutions aligned with business and technical requirements, collaborates with stakeholders, and provides technical leadership to development teams. The role also involves Salesforce customization, testing, documentation, and training and support for end-users and administrators. The position may be remote, subject to restrictions; arrangements can be discussed with the hiring manager during the interview process.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree and 8 or more years of relevant experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Extensive experience in Salesforce development and architecture, with a strong understanding of Salesforce products and features.
- Required Salesforce Certified Administration and Advanced Administrator certifications.
- Proficiency in Apex, Visualforce, Lightning components, and other Salesforce development tools.
- Experience with integration tools and techniques.
- Proven leadership abilities, including collaborating with cross-functional teams, mentoring team members, and influencing decisions.
- Strong problem-solving and analytical skills, including the ability to translate business requirements into technical solutions.
- Exceptional communication and presentation abilities and strong interpersonal skills for stakeholder management.

Responsibilities
- Develop comprehensive Salesforce solutions aligned with business objectives and technical requirements.
- Collaborate with business leaders, project managers, business analysts, and other stakeholders to gather requirements and ensure solutions meet their needs.
- Provide technical guidance and leadership to development teams, ensuring best practices and standards are followed.
- Customize Salesforce applications using Apex, Visualforce, Lightning components, and other tools.
- Test and validate solutions to ensure they meet quality standards and perform as expected.
- Create and maintain solution documentation, including design specifications, technical architecture, and user guides.
- Provide training and support to end-users and administrators to support adoption and use of Salesforce solutions.
- Present viable solution options and industry best practices to stakeholders.
- Perform hands-on application configuration, where required, to meet customer needs.
- Assume end-to-end functional responsibility for enterprise solution implementation, from requirements gathering through release.
