About The Position

Penn State University is seeking an experienced Salesforce Solution Architect to join the Enterprise Customer Relationship Management Program Team. The enterprise program advances engagement and service delivery for the university community—including faculty, students, staff, and alumni—through integrated solutions that create value across Penn State constituencies. The role designs and implements Salesforce enterprise solutions that meet business requirements for university units. The position may be performed remotely, subject to restrictions; details can be discussed with the hiring manager during the interview process.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree, or an equivalent combination of education and experience accepted.
• At least 8 years of relevant experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
• Extensive experience in Salesforce development and architecture, with a strong understanding of Salesforce products and features.
• Salesforce Certified Administration and Advanced Administrator certifications are listed as required in the qualifications section.
• Proficiency in Apex, Visualforce, Lightning components, and other Salesforce development tools.
• Experience with integration tools and techniques.
• Proven leadership abilities, including collaborating with cross-functional teams, mentoring team members, and influencing decisions.
• Strong problem-solving and analytical skills, including translating business requirements into technical solutions.
• Exceptional communication and presentation abilities and strong interpersonal skills for stakeholder management.

Nice To Haves

• Salesforce Certified Platform Architect certification.
• Salesforce Certified Platform Developer I certification.
• Salesforce Certified Application Architect, Salesforce Certified System Architect, Salesforce Certified Marketing Cloud Consultant, Data Cloud Consultant, or Agentforce Specialist certifications are highly desirable.

Responsibilities

• Develop Salesforce solutions aligned with business objectives and technical requirements.
• Collaborate with business leaders, project managers, business analysts, and other stakeholders to gather requirements and ensure solutions meet their needs.
• Provide technical guidance and leadership to development teams, ensuring best practices and standards are followed.
• Customize Salesforce applications using Apex, Visualforce, Lightning components, and other tools.
• Conduct testing and validation to ensure solutions meet quality standards and perform as expected.
• Create and maintain documentation, including design specifications, technical architecture, and user guides.
• Provide training and support to end-users and administrators.
• Provide viable solution options, apply industry best practices, and formulate and present solutions to stakeholders.
• Perform hands-on application configuration (clicks, not code) where required.
• Assume end-to-end functional responsibility for enterprise-level solution implementation, from initial requirements gathering through release.
