Sales Order Specialist

About The Position

This role provides customer service to U.S. branches and distributors regarding shipments, product availability, invoicing, and pricing of STIHL Inc. and/or outside vendor products. The specialist may focus on STIHL products or handle drop-ship and direct ship orders from outside vendors. This position also supports the sales planning, product planning, and import departments.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in a related discipline or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • 3+ years of related experience preferred.
  • Intermediate to advanced knowledge of Microsoft software, including Word, Excel, PowerPoint and/or Access.
  • Excellent verbal and written communications skills.
  • SAP experience preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Coordinates shipments and fulfills orders for STIHL Inc. and outside vendors.
  • Manages the order placement and fulfillment process for drop-ship or direct orders to branches/distributors.
  • Reviews incoming orders, checks availability, and corrects failed line items.
  • Communicates regularly with customers or branches/distributors via email or phone regarding product availability, pricing, order discrepancies, and account reconciliation.
  • Coordinates special requirements with appropriate parties to ensure proper handling, shipping, prioritization, and timing of deliveries.
  • Responds to customer inquiries on order status, shipping dates, product information, and availability, ensuring successful order completion.
  • Allocates product and assists customers in locating products from other locations.
  • Provides support by ensuring order visibility in the system, including shipping schedules, container numbers, arrival dates, shipping notices, availability follow-up, and prioritization.
  • Works with IS to automate key processes.
  • Troubleshoots incomplete orders in SAP, issues credits/debits for shipping discrepancies, coordinates returns, and compiles service level/backorder metrics.
  • Assumes additional related responsibilities as needed.
