Sales Manager (U.S.)

beehiiv
•$280,000 - $320,000

About The Position

beehiiv is hiring a U.S.-based Sales Manager to lead and grow its sales team while continuing to manage deals directly. The role is a player-coach position: the Sales Manager owns the team’s quarterly number, builds pipeline, coaches a small team of Account Executives, and hires and ramps new AEs. Customers include newsletter-first media companies, publishers, and brands, with most deals in the mid-market. The company is expanding its product suite and wants to win larger deals as it scales. The Sales Manager will build a repeatable mid-market sales motion, strengthen competitive displacement and migration selling, and work with Enterprise Marketing, Product, and existing enterprise customers to create pipeline and improve offerings. The role also involves developing AI workflows for sales activities such as prospect research, POCs, and deal reviews. The position is fast-paced, involves multiple priorities and stakeholders, and is not described as a traditional 9-to-5 role. Compensation depends on experience.

Requirements

  • At least 6 years of B2B SaaS sales experience, including at least 3 years leading or coaching Account Executives as a manager, team lead, or player-coach.
  • Track record of hitting a team number on mid-market deals, roughly $10,000–$100,000 ACV.
  • Experience winning competitive displacements and migrations.
  • Strong pipeline discipline, including understanding coverage, win rates, and deal velocity and acting on those metrics.
  • Ability to maintain a clean CRM and provide reliable forecasts.
  • Experience hiring and onboarding Account Executives and SDRs.
  • Hands-on experience building with AI tools, such as Claude, ChatGPT, or automation platforms, to streamline work through workflows, agents, dashboards, or reporting.
  • Must be based in the United States.
  • Comfort working in ambiguous, fast-paced environments with rapid iteration, frequent context switching, multiple priorities, and stakeholders.
  • Clear, concise communication and ability to develop cohesive, data-driven narratives verbally and in writing.
  • Willingness to carry deals while managing and coaching a team.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with email service providers or marketing automation platforms.
  • Media, publishing, creator economy, or martech experience.
  • Experience selling alongside a product-led growth or self-serve motion.
  • Experience with HubSpot.

Responsibilities

  • Own quarterly closed-won and new pipeline goals for new business and sales-led expansion.
  • Coach the team through weekly 1:1s, pipeline reviews, and reviews of major deals; improve discovery, demos, POCs, and closing.
  • Manage personal deals and support key team deals, especially larger opportunities involving multiple stakeholders.
  • Partner with Enterprise Marketing to grow pipeline through the website, outbound, referrals, and events.
  • Build referral and partner programs with existing enterprise customers.
  • Maintain accurate HubSpot stages, close dates, and loss reasons to support forecasting and learning from lost deals.
  • Bring customer and deal feedback to Product, particularly as new products launch and the company moves upmarket.
  • Hire, onboard, and ramp new Account Executives as the team scales.
  • Build and test AI workflows for the team, including prospect research, POCs, and deal reviews, and share effective approaches.
