The Sales Floor Department Supervisor leads and enables a team of associates to deliver a strong customer experience. The role includes coaching and training associates, delegating and following up on daily tasks, managing performance, and ensuring adequate department coverage. Responsibilities span customer-facing work such as greeting customers, clarifying needs, identifying solutions, and closing sales; non-customer-facing work such as down stocking, inventory management, and area recovery; and store safety, including safety walks, hazard reporting, and reinforcing safety and lifting directions. The supervisor works with leaders to identify approaches and behaviors that support sales and service objectives, then communicates best practices to encourage customer-focused behavior and goal attainment. They may supervise associates in other departments as needed, requiring broad product knowledge and the ability to engage associates and customers across departments. The role also requires communicating concerns, issues, praise, and morale upward to management. The supervisor may occasionally open or close the store or serve as manager-on-duty. Regular travel is not required, though occasional travel to meetings, trainings, or neighboring stores may be needed.
