The Sales Floor Department Supervisor leads and enables a team of associates to deliver a strong customer experience. The role includes coaching and training associates, delegating and following up on daily tasks, managing performance, and ensuring adequate department coverage. Supervisors handle customer-facing activities such as greeting customers, clarifying needs, identifying solutions, and closing sales, as well as non-customer-facing work such as down stocking, inventory management, and area recovery. They also help maintain store safety through safety walks, hazard reporting, and communicating safe work and lifting practices. The supervisor works with store leaders to identify effective approaches to sales and service objectives and communicates best practices to the team to encourage customer-focused behavior and goal attainment. They may supervise associates in other departments as needed, requiring broad product knowledge and the ability to engage associates and customers across departments. They communicate concerns, issues, praise, and morale to management. The role may occasionally involve opening or closing the store or serving as manager-on-duty. Regular travel is not required, though occasional travel to meetings, training, or neighboring stores may be needed.
