The Sales Floor Department Supervisor leads and enables a team of associates to deliver a strong customer experience. The role includes coaching and training associates, delegating and following up on daily tasks, managing performance, and ensuring adequate department coverage. Supervisors handle customer-facing activities such as greeting customers, clarifying needs, identifying solutions, and closing sales, as well as non-customer-facing work including down stocking, inventory management, and area recovery. They also support store safety by conducting safety walks, reporting hazards, and reinforcing safety and lifting practices. The supervisor works with leaders to identify approaches and behaviors that support sales and service objectives, then communicates best practices to the team to encourage customer-focused behavior and goal attainment. The role may require supervising associates in other departments, opening or closing the store, or serving as manager-on-duty. The supervisor communicates concerns, issues, praise, and morale upward to management. Regular travel is not required, though occasional travel to meetings, training, or neighboring stores may be needed.
