About The Position

The Sales Floor Assistant Manager (SFAM) helps Salt & Light fulfill its mission and vision by overseeing operations of the sales floor, including directly supervising Sales Floor Team Members, Custodial Team Members, and assigned volunteers. Reporting to the Sales Floor Manager, the SFAM is responsible for thrift merchandise on the sales floor when the Sales Floor Manager is not working and partners with the manager to ensure the floor meets company standards. The role also involves communication with the Receiving & Processing Assistant Manager and Receiving & Processing Manager. The position supports a safe, welcoming environment for team members, volunteers, customers, and donors that reflects the organization’s Christian mission. The successful candidate is a motivated, resourceful, detail-oriented self-starter who can think strategically across multiple priorities and work well as part of a team. Alignment with Salt & Light’s Statement of Beliefs and a pastoral reference are required for consideration.

Requirements

Have retail management experience.
Have at least a high school diploma or equivalent.
Be able to read and write in English.
Have excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to work well with diverse staff and volunteers.
Have excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
Be able to think strategically across multiple priorities and initiatives.
Be a self-starter and solution-focused.
Be proficient with Microsoft Office Suite and able to quickly learn the organization’s point-of-sale system.
Have prior knowledge of valuing home goods, toys, electronics, antiques, and memorabilia.
Be able to identify and price name-brand clothing, shoes, and purses.
Be able to read, do basic math, and handle cash.
Be able to stand, bend, and lift merchandise throughout an eight-hour shift.
Be able to lift 50 pounds or more with assistance.
Understand the Gospel message and be willing to pray and share the Gospel.
Regularly attend a local church.

Responsibilities

Help maintain a safe and welcoming environment for team members, volunteers, customers, and donors.
Ensure an appropriate number of registers are staffed and supplied.
Coach Sales Floor Team Members and assigned volunteers on maintaining healthy, positive relationships with one another, customers, and partner organizations.
Oversee and promptly remove dated products to make room for new products at both locations.
Oversee thrift shelf management and merchandising.
Identify items that should be removed, retagged, or repriced.
Ensure the sales floor is clean and well organized.
Complete customer and store paperwork accurately.
Handle and report cash accurately.
Communicate with the Receiving & Processing Assistant Manager and Receiving & Processing Manager.
