About The Position

As a Sales Consultant Trainee, you will help deliver CarMax’s customer-first experience by building relationships, understanding customer needs, and guiding customers toward suitable vehicles. CarMax provides paid training and mentorship, and prior auto sales experience is not required. The role involves supporting customers throughout the vehicle-purchase process while providing clear, honest information and maintaining a professional, customer-first approach.

This is a part-time role at CarMax’s King of Prussia location in Pennsylvania. The hourly rate is $7.75–$20.00, and the position is eligible for commission. Sales Consultants earn an average of $65,000 annually, with top performers able to earn $90,000 or more.

Part-time associates may be eligible for sick time where required by state law, vacation time based on length of service and subject to a one-year waiting period, and four hours of Floating Holiday Time per calendar year subject to manager approval. CarMax describes itself as the nation’s largest used-car retailer, with over 250 store locations and over 30,000 associates.

Responsibilities

• Help customers find vehicles that fit their needs using knowledge of CarMax inventory.
• Guide customers through the purchase process, including appraisals, test drives, and financing applications.
• Listen actively and provide clear, honest information to deliver an exceptional customer experience.
• Complete accurate transaction documentation.
• Collaborate with team members to meet customer needs and achieve store goals.
• Maintain a professional, customer-first approach in every interaction.
• Stay informed about CarMax products, services, and promotions.
• Follow CarMax Environmental, Health and Safety (EH&S) requirements and maintain a clean, orderly work area.
