About The Position

The Sales Associate I assists The Salvation Army in operating the Thrift Store for the Reno Adult Rehabilitation Program. The role includes supporting store operations, serving customers, maintaining the store’s appearance, and completing assigned duties. This job description is a broad outline of responsibilities.

Requirements

• Ability to handle cash, make change, and operate a register.
• Ability to take instructions and carry them out without direct supervision.
• Good rapport with customers.
• Strong time-management and multitasking abilities.
• Must possess a valid Nevada Class C Driver License and be able to drive a Salvation Army vehicle.
• Must be 21 years or older.
• Must complete The Salvation Army vehicle course training.
• Ability to sit, walk, stand, bend, squat, climb, kneel, and twist intermittently or sometimes continuously.
• Ability to grasp, push, and/or pull objects and reach overhead.
• Ability to operate a telephone, computer, and basic office equipment and tools.
• Ability to lift 50 pounds non-continuously.
• Ability to process written, visual, and/or verbal information.
• Must be able to perform the essential duties with or without accommodation.

Nice To Haves

• Knowledge of merchandise is preferred.
• Previous retail experience is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Stock, clean, and rag out goods.
• Operate the cash register and prepare daily paperwork.
• Be responsible for keys to open and/or close the store.
• Maintain good customer relations and provide prompt, courteous assistance to customers.
• Answer telephone calls courteously and direct callers to the appropriate department.
• Ensure the store is clean and orderly.
• Perform assigned janitorial duties, including cleaning windows, vacuuming, dusting, sweeping, and cleaning bathrooms.
• Perform other duties assigned by the Store Manager or Assistant Manager.
