About The Position

The Sales Associate maintains outstanding customer service, generates sales, merchandises products, owns assigned departments, and supports the store management team. The Temporary Key Carrier provides overall direction to store associates and coordinates store operations when Store or Assistant Management staff are absent, typically covering vacation or illness. The role is expected to uphold Great Lakes Ace Hardware’s Mission, Vision, and Core Values.

Responsibilities

Greet customers, answer merchandise questions, help locate products, and use the W.O.W. process to help customers find items on their lists.
Complete company and departmental paperwork accurately, including Price Change Bulletins, Operation Actions, Red Tags, and Bin Tags.
Receive, open, and unpack merchandise; check paperwork against received items when required; and replenish stock as needed.
Display and maintain merchandise according to company plan-o-grams and management guidelines, including building displays to attract customers and promote sales.
Maintain inventory accuracy through adjustment reports, including cycle counts and negative on-hand reports.
Follow the nightly maintenance checklist to recover and clean the store.
Stay familiar with new products and advertised merchandise.
Maintain awareness of surroundings and practice loss-prevention techniques to minimize shoplifting losses.
Use store-operation tools and procedures, including the RF Gun, Back Office Procedures, and Store Opportunities.
Follow Great Lakes Ace policies and procedures for all transactions.
Explain Ace Rewards benefits to customers and encourage their participation.
Communicate and work effectively and professionally with colleagues and customers.
Assist with color matching and mixing paint.
Assist customers or make recommendations in service areas, including chain, rope, key and glass cutting, screen repair, and knife sharpening.
Operate the cash register, scan merchandise, use suggestive selling, tender transactions properly, and thank customers for shopping at Great Lakes Ace.
Adhere to company policies and participate in periodic team meetings.
Maintain regular, prompt attendance and work a flexible schedule, including weekends.
As Temporary Key Carrier, direct store associates and coordinate store operations when Store or Assistant Management staff are absent.
