About The Position

The Sales Associate represents Goodwill’s retail operations and serves customers in and around the store and by phone. The role works collaboratively to support store operations and make a positive impact on the community. Responsibilities include providing courteous service, moving merchandise to the sales floor, accurately processing transactions and handling cash, keeping merchandise and work areas orderly, and completing general housekeeping duties.

Requirements

• Effectively communicate with customers and Goodwill associates.
• Provide exceptional customer service.
• Settle customer complaints.
• Perform basic math.
• Stand for prolonged periods, up to 7 hours per 8-hour shift.
• Bend and frequently lift up to 40 pounds.
• Have basic working knowledge of computer applications and the internet.

Nice To Haves

• At least six months of previous work experience.
• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Previous experience working in a retail environment.
• Excellent customer service-related skills.
• Working knowledge of a cash register.
• Complete fluency in English and multilingual ability.

Responsibilities

• Provide professional and courteous service to customers in the store, outside the store, and over the phone.
• Place merchandise on the sales floor in a timely manner.
• Ring up items accurately on the register.
• Handle cash accurately, including making change and operating and maintaining the cash register, check and charge card machine, and calculator.
• Maintain knowledge of merchandise and answer customer questions courteously and promptly.
• Keep floor merchandise neat and orderly on racks, shelves, and in bins and hangers, and assist customers with purchase selections.
• Maintain a clean, professional appearance.
• Keep the register area orderly and clean.
• Maintain familiarity with store security procedures and use security practices when necessary.
• Perform housekeeping duties as needed, including sweeping, mopping, vacuuming, wiping shelves, and dusting restrooms and dressing rooms.
• Perform other duties as assigned by management.
