About The Position
The Sales Associate acts as a point of contact for customers and helps maintain store operations, merchandise presentation, and customer satisfaction. The role includes receiving and stocking merchandise, building displays, assisting customers with finding products, operating the cash register, and helping keep the store clean and organized. Associates also follow company policies and safety practices and perform other duties as needed to support profitability, customer satisfaction, teamwork, and protection of company assets. The position involves frequent walking, standing, bending, stooping, kneeling, and handling merchandise and equipment. It also requires regular lifting of up to 40 pounds and occasional lifting of up to 55 pounds, with occasional ladder use up to six feet. The work takes place in a fast-paced environment with moderate noise and occasional exposure to outdoor weather conditions.
Requirements
- Effective interpersonal and oral communication skills.
- Understanding of safety policies and practices.
- Ability to read and follow plan-o-gram and merchandise presentation guidance.
- Knowledge of basic cash-handling procedures.
- Basic mathematical skills.
- Ability to perform IBM cash register functions.

Responsibilities
- Unload trucks and receive, open, and unpack cartons and totes according to company processes.
- Store merchandise in the stockroom or move it directly to the sales floor.
- Build merchandise displays; stock, rotate, and face merchandise on shelves; and restock recovered merchandise.
- Assist customers by locating merchandise and greet customers.
- Operate the cash register and flatbed scanner to itemize purchases, bag merchandise, collect payments, and make change.
- Assist with ordering merchandise using handheld scanners as needed.
- Bail cardboard and take out trash; dust and mop floors; and clean the restroom, stockroom, and front end of the store.
- Help set up sidewalk displays when necessary.
- Comply with company policies and procedures.
- Perform other duties as necessary to maximize profitability, customer satisfaction, and teamwork while protecting company assets.
