About The Position

The Sales Associate represents Goodwill's retail operations and works collaboratively to make a positive and sustainable impact on the community. The role provides an opportunity to learn on the job and develop toward career advancement. Sales Associates provide customer service, stock and organize merchandise, operate the register, and help maintain a clean and orderly store.

Requirements

Ability to communicate effectively with customers and GGW associates.
Ability to provide exceptional customer service.
Ability to settle customer complaints.
Ability to perform basic math.
Ability to stand for prolonged periods, up to 7 hours per 8-hour shift.
Ability to bend and frequently lift up to 40 pounds.
Basic working knowledge of computer applications and the internet.

Nice To Haves

At least six months of previous work experience.
High school diploma or equivalent.
Previous experience working in a retail environment.
Excellent customer service-related skills.
Working knowledge of a cash register.
Multilingual ability, with complete fluency in English.

Responsibilities

Provide professional and courteous service to customers in the store, outside the store, and over the phone.
Ensure merchandise is placed on the sales floor in a timely manner.
Ring up items accurately on the register.
Handle cash accurately, including making change and operating and maintaining the cash register, card machine, and calculator.
Maintain knowledge of merchandise and answer customer questions courteously and promptly.
Keep floor merchandise neat and orderly on racks, shelves, and in bins and hangers, and assist customers with purchase selections.
Maintain a clean, professional appearance.
Keep the register area orderly and clean.
Remain familiar with store security procedures and exercise security practices when necessary.
Perform housekeeping duties as needed, including sweeping, mopping, vacuuming, wiping shelves, and dusting restrooms and dressing rooms.
Perform other duties as assigned by management.
