About The Position
The Sales Associate acts as a point of contact for customers and helps maintain merchandise presentation, stock levels, and store operations. The role includes receiving and stocking merchandise, building displays, assisting customers, operating the register, and completing cleaning and other tasks that support profitability, customer satisfaction, teamwork, and protection of company assets. The position involves frequent walking, standing, bending, stooping, kneeling, and handling merchandise and equipment. It is performed in a fast-paced environment with moderate noise and occasional exposure to outside weather conditions. Relocation assistance is not available.
Requirements
- Effective interpersonal and oral communication skills.
- Understanding of safety policies and practices.
- Ability to read and follow plan-o-gram and merchandise presentation guidance.
- Knowledge of basic cash-handling procedures.
- Basic mathematical skills.
- Ability to perform IBM cash register functions.
- Frequent and proper lifting of up to 40 pounds and occasional lifting of up to 55 pounds.
- Ability to push and/or pull rolltainers for stocking merchandise.
- Ability to climb a step ladder occasionally to heights of six feet.

- High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
Responsibilities
- Unload trucks and receive, open, and unpack cartons and totes according to company work processes.
- Store merchandise in the stockroom or move it directly to the sales floor.
- Build merchandise displays and stock, rotate, and face merchandise on shelves.
- Restock recovered merchandise.
- Assist customers by locating merchandise and greet customers.
- Operate the cash register and flatbed scanner to itemize and total purchases, bag merchandise, collect payment, and make change.
- Assist with ordering merchandise using handheld scanners as needed.
- Bail cardboard, take out trash, dust and mop store floors, and clean the restroom and stockroom.
- Clean the front end of the store and help set up sidewalk displays when necessary.
- Comply with company policies and procedures.
- Perform other duties as necessary to maximize profitability, customer satisfaction, and teamwork while protecting company assets.
