About The Position

Upper Lakes Foods is the largest independent, wholesale food distributor in Minnesota, with three facilities located in Cloquet, MN, Northfield, MN and Janesville, WI. We distribute food throughout the Upper Midwest. Upper Lakes Foods specializes in serving foodservice operators such as independent restaurants, assisted living facilities, schools, and national and regional foodservice chain accounts with a strong focus on customer service. As a Sales Account Representative at Upper Lakes Foods, you will cultivate strong, long-term relationships with both current and prospective customers, ensuring a customer-centric approach in everything you do. Your outbound sales efforts will include scheduled calls, cold outreach, and engaging on-site visits, where you'll present tailored product solutions that demonstrate true value. Supporting customers through product demonstrations, menu planning, and training will be crucial as you actively participate in food shows and promotional events. You’ll also review sales reports and coordinate with logistics to manage delivery schedules effectively. Embracing continuous learning and professional development will empower you to identify growth opportunities alongside suppliers and brokers. You'll be a key representative in community outreach, all while maintaining effective relationships within the department and company. Requirements

  • Aptitude for utilizing software tools like Microsoft Office—specifically Excel, Word, and Outlook.
  • Valid driver’s license and a clean driving record.
  • Strong organizational and multi-tasking skills.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication abilities.
  • Flexible mindset to adapt under pressure and solve problems.
  • Complete the Serve Safe food handling certification within the first 90 days.
  • Light physical exertion, including lifting up to 40 pounds.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience in the food sales industry.
  • Background in hospitality or supply chain.
