About The Position

The Safety Intern assists with administering the accident prevention program and applicable laws related to workplace safety at an assigned location, consistent with company policies and procedures. The role supports safety compliance, program development, jobsite inspections, training, regulatory activities, hazard analyses, and claims documentation and follow-up.

Requirements

• Currently attending a bachelor’s degree program.
• Enrolled in a Safety or Occupational Health undergraduate program.
• Excellent communication, presentation, and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to teach, mentor, and lead.
• Ability to work in a high-production environment and respond quickly and effectively under pressure and deadlines.
• Proficiency in Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook.
• Availability and willingness to travel frequently.

Nice To Haves

• Bilingual English/Spanish (preferred but not required).

Responsibilities

• Promote compliance with the company safety program and local accident prevention efforts to help meet company safety goals.
• Assist in developing and implementing safety programs that meet or exceed company standards.
• Perform and document jobsite inspections and audits, focusing on hazard recognition, unsafe behaviors, and correction of potential third-party, asset-loss, and workers’ compensation losses.
• Assist with preparing and conducting safety meetings and training programs to communicate company policy and safety standards.
• Participate in regulatory agency inspections and investigations to support compliance with federal and state regulations.
• Assist in developing and reviewing job hazard analyses for major phases of work.
• Assist with investigating, preparing, and maintaining records of third-party, asset-loss, and workers’ compensation claims.
• Follow up with the corporate insurance department regarding claims to help collect appropriate information and support timely resolution.
