Coeur Alaska is seeking a motivated undergraduate student for a summer internship with the Health and Safety Department at the Kensington Mine in 2027, from May through August. The mine is an underground gold mine in the Berners Bay Mining District, approximately 45 miles from Juneau, Alaska. The internship typically lasts about 12 weeks and provides real-world, on-the-job experience at an operating mine site. Interns receive mentorship from industry professionals and ownership of projects with a tangible impact on the mine. Interns work collaboratively to develop a group presentation identifying a company area for improvement. The program culminates in an expenses-paid trip to the company’s Chicago office, where groups present their projects, meet company leaders, and network with early-career participants. Food and housing are provided at the remote mine-site camp. Accommodations are dormitory style, with two twin beds, a TV, and personal storage. Transportation between Juneau and the mine site is provided twice daily and includes bus and boat travel. The position requires safely performing work in a mining environment, including outdoor and underground conditions. The internship pays $29.00 per hour. Potential future opportunities with Coeur Mining may include direct placement, additional internships, or participation in the Coeur Development Program.
