About The Position

Balfour Beatty is seeking a Safety Coordinator in Charlotte to support field operations for our Carolinas Division. This role assists in implementing Balfour Beatty’s Zero Harm® program by providing jobsite-level safety support, documentation, training assistance, and daily collaboration with project teams. The Safety Coordinator serves as a key liaison between the project site and the Safety leadership team, helping ensure safe work practices, regulatory compliance, and proactive hazard mitigation. This position is ideal for an early-career safety professional who excels in field presence, communication, and accurate documentation.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Safety & Environmental Health, Construction Management, or related field; or equivalent field experience.
  • 2–4 years of construction or industrial safety experience preferred.
  • OSHA 10 required; OSHA 30 strongly preferred.
  • Ability to recognize hazards, communicate effectively, and maintain accurate documentation.
  • Strong interpersonal and customer service skills.
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office, email, and basic digital reporting tools.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced field environment and uphold Balfour Beatty safety values.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience assisting with incident investigations or regulatory inspections.
  • Experience providing basic first aid or emergency response.

Responsibilities

  • Support implementation of project safety plans and Zero Harm® initiatives.
  • Coordinate with project teams to maintain safe work practices and site compliance.
  • Conduct routine jobsite walkthroughs, identify hazards, and track corrective actions.
  • Maintain safety signage, bulletin boards, and first-aid/safety equipment.
  • Assist with new-hire safety orientation and basic task-specific training.
  • Maintain toolbox talk logs, meeting minutes, and training attendance.
  • Assist with first aid response, incident documentation, and basic investigation steps.
  • Participate in regulatory inspections and help ensure prompt correction of violations.
  • Maintain organized safety files, inspection reports, and OSHA-related documentation.
  • Prepare periodic safety summaries for project teams and Safety leadership.
