About The Position

The Safety Coordinator plays a key role in supporting the day-to-day execution of safety initiatives at their assigned facility under the direction of the Safety Manager. This is a hands-on, hourly position focused on maintaining a safe, compliant, and proactive warehouse environment through floor-level observations, inspections, coaching, and employee engagement. The ideal candidate is a visible safety advocate who promotes accountability, reinforces safe work practices, and partners with supervisors, employees, and contractors to ensure compliance with company safety standards and regulatory requirements.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • 1+ year of experience in a warehouse, distribution, manufacturing, or industrial environment preferred.
  • Previous safety-related experience is a plus.
  • Ability to obtain OSHA 30 certification (training provided).
  • Ability to obtain Powered Material Handling Equipment (PMHE) Train-the-Trainer certification (training provided).
  • Strong observation skills with the ability to confidently and respectfully coach employees at all levels.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office, including Word and Excel.

  • Bilingual English/Spanish is a plus.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct daily safety observations throughout the warehouse, providing real-time coaching and reinforcement of safe work practices.
  • Perform daily facility walks to identify and address safety concerns, including blocked exits, pallet securement, housekeeping.
  • Document and escalate unsafe conditions or behaviors to the Safety Manager and appropriate supervisors.
  • Complete weekly warehouse racking inspections and maintain accurate inspection records.
  • Perform monthly fire extinguisher inspections to verify units are charged, tagged, and readily accessible.
  • Conduct monthly facility safety audits and track corrective actions through completion.
  • Meet weekly with supervisors to review safety performance, discuss open action items, and address workplace conditions.
  • Participate in weekly facility safety meetings.
  • Lead at least one weekly pre-shift safety meeting, communicating safety topics and reinforcing safe behaviors with employees.
  • Train, evaluate, and certify employees on Powered Material Handling Equipment (PMHE) in accordance with company standards.
  • Maintain accurate employee training and certification records.
  • Ensure all contractors complete required safety documentation before beginning work on-site.
  • Monitor contractor compliance with company safety policies while on facility grounds.
  • Support daily pre-shift safety talks and employee stretching programs.
  • Compile and submit weekly safety metrics and reports to the Safety Manager.
  • Complete near-miss, incident, and injury reports, and assist with investigations and follow-up actions.
  • Maintain organized safety documentation to support facility compliance and corporate recordkeeping.
  • Help manage facility security systems, including alarm systems, CCTV, and visitor management processes to support a safe and secure workplace.
