About The Position

The Rug Sales Associate promotes and sells merchandise displayed on the showroom floor. This role involves working directly with internal and external customers, following up on orders and inquiries, and assisting with merchandise-related problems in coordination with customer service and warehouse operations. The associate will also collaborate with other departments to ensure customer needs are met, explain product features and benefits, and prepare sales tickets. Additionally, the role may involve in-home consultations, directing merchandise installation, and staying updated on new products, policies, and advertisements.

Requirements

  • Ability to lift merchandise of 50lbs to move furniture as part of the selling process (flipping rugs).
  • Must be able to walk or stand for long periods of time.
  • Must be able to listen and respond to customer’s needs.
  • Must be at least 21 years of age.
  • Must have a valid Driver’s license with no more than 2 traffic violations or 1 chargeable accident within the past three years.
  • Ability to communicate effectively with team members.
  • Knowledge of employment, safety, and merchandise handling procedures.

  • Sales experience preferred, not required.

Responsibilities

  • Promote and sell merchandise displayed on the showroom floor.
  • Work directly with internal and external customers.
  • Follow up with customer orders and inquiries.
  • Assist with any problems associated with merchandise in conjunction with customer service and warehouse operations.
  • Work on an organizational level with other departments to ensure customer needs are met.
  • Ask customers questions about products, prices, availability, and product uses to get a better understanding of the customer’s needs.
  • Explain features of products in a manner that the customer will understand.
  • Explain features of products that will benefit the customers based on their needs.
  • Prepare sales tickets for orders obtained.
  • Assist customers in making product selections based on customers specifications.
  • Recommend, select, and help locate or obtain merchandise based on customer needs.
  • Describe merchandise and explain use, operation, and care of merchandise to customers.
  • Stay educated on new products, policies, as well as advertisements the store is running.
  • Use excellent customer relations.
  • Follow up with customers by email and phone.
  • Occasionally drive to customers home and perform in-home consultations, maximizing the opportunity to increase sales.
  • Floor and accessory layout design inside the customer’s home.
  • Meet delivery drivers at customer homes and direct installation of merchandise.
  • Perform any other duties as directed by management.
