About The Position

Hermeneutic Research is seeking researchers to join its real-time information team and generate alpha from real-time events. The role calls for rational analysis of how news originates, spreads, and affects prices, along with the ability to distinguish meaningful signals from noise. The ideal candidate is a strategic thinker with a growth mindset who continually becomes faster and more effective, and who has potential or credentials in software development or mathematics.

The researcher will identify and analyze market-moving news, monitor scheduled events and live newsfeeds, and alert traders and researchers to time-sensitive developments. The role also involves developing, testing, and maintaining automated news alerts, while building market competence in liquid crypto assets. Candidates should have a related degree or demonstrable fluency in a related field, experience with news platforms, and the ambition and operational skills to perform in a high-stakes, competitive environment.

Requirements

• A degree in a related field, such as finance, engineering, mathematics, or social science with a concentration in economics or finance, or demonstrable fluency in a related field.
• Experience using news platforms such as X Pro, Bloomberg Terminal, and Discord or Telegram chats.
• Potential or credentials in software development or mathematics.
• Attention to detail.
• Reliability.
• Ability to articulate key insights quickly.
• Serious ambition to participate in a high-stakes, ultra-competitive environment.

Responsibilities

• Identify market-moving news signals by observing and querying news and market data.
• Catalog, study, and model the market impact of news signals through historical analysis.
• Create a calendar of important scheduled events and watch those events live.
• Monitor newsfeeds and alert traders and researchers to time-sensitive updates.
• Backtest, stress-test, and deploy high-precision and high-recall automated alerts for themes of interest; monitor changing market conditions and update the alerts as needed.
• Develop market competence by internalizing context and pricing for liquid crypto assets.
