About The Position

Seeking an experienced RPG Software Developer with RPG IV/RPG Free and IBM iSeries (AS400) experience to support critical healthcare eligibility, claims, and data integration processes. The ideal candidate will have experience troubleshooting and enhancing legacy applications, supporting data interfaces and outbound file integrations, and preferably bring familiarity with healthcare systems, EDI transactions, and COBOL in an IBM iSeries environment. Job Summary: Assists in the process of translating user requirements and systems objectives of increasing complexity into a logical, efficient and optimal systems design. Develops and maintains new and existing applications by writing code based on the aforementioned design to ensure that business rules, security standards and government regulations are met. Provides management with recommendations for issue resolution. Creates and executes required test plans on all new and changed components.

Requirements

  • RPG IV/RPG Free and IBM iSeries (AS400) experience
  • Experience troubleshooting and enhancing legacy applications
  • Experience supporting data interfaces and outbound file integrations
  • Bachelors degree in Computer Science, business or related field or equivalent experience.
  • Minimum 3 years information systems experience.
  • Minimum 2 years analysis and design experience.
  • Advanced understanding of programming design and coding techniques.
  • Solid understanding of multiple hardware and software platforms (e.g. mainframe, distributed, cloud, etc.).
  • Solid understanding of systems development life cycle.

Nice To Haves

  • Familiarity with healthcare systems
  • Familiarity with EDI transactions
  • Familiarity with COBOL in an IBM iSeries environment

Responsibilities

  • Develops and maintains new and existing applications by analyzing, designing and writing code of increasing complexity that satisfies a logical, efficient and optimal systems design.
  • Participates on project teams and functions as development lead on less complex systems or subsystems, as needed.
  • Leads program-level and system-level testing, implementation, and break-fix tasks associated with business applications, including multiple platforms.
  • Develops documentation of technical workflows and systems designs and verifies against user requirements
  • Works with database staff and security staff to ensure that data standards and security standards are properly applied.
  • Learns new technical concepts and software languages as needed.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
