About The Position

Warrior Insurance Network is seeking an experienced RPG developer to develop, analyze, and maintain key corporate applications on its iSeries (AS/400) platform. The role supports stable, critical applications while contributing to modernization initiatives involving SQL, API and web service integrations, Visual Studio Code, and AI-assisted development. The candidate should be motivated, self-directed, and able to work independently as well as collaboratively.

Requirements

• Proven experience delivering complex systems through the full lifecycle, including requirements gathering, design, build, test, and deployment.
• Strong knowledge of iSeries development environments, protocols, and programming languages, including RPG IV/ILE, RPG Free, SQL (including embedded SQL in RPG), and CL.
• Understanding of Property and Casualty (P&C) insurance principles and practices.
• Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
• Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment and communicate effectively with stakeholders and IT.

Nice To Haves

• Experience with Visual Studio Code and IBM i-related extensions.
• Bachelor's degree in computer science or a related field is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Enhance and support core business applications in RPG IV/ILE and RPG Free.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to gather and analyze requirements and create functional specifications.
• Conduct code reviews, perform unit testing, and coordinate development and QA tasks with IT team members.
• Create technical design documentation for assigned projects.
• Implement and maintain development standards and deployment processes and procedures.
• Contribute to modernization efforts using SQL, APIs and web services, and AI tools such as ChatGPT and Claude.
• Assist with IT Help Desk tickets for production issues, working with business users and IT as needed for timely resolution.
• Troubleshoot and resolve issues in existing applications to ensure optimal performance and reliability.
