About The Position
A Router supports the transportation department by handling calls from drivers and customer service, recording delivery times and status for selected accounts, and routing orders for next-day deliveries. The role also assists with other transportation department functions. The router independently makes decisions about routing orders and trucks; work is regularly reviewed by a supervisor and manager.
Requirements
- High school diploma or GED.
- At least 3 years of experience in a transportation or warehouse environment.
- Knowledge of delivery areas.
- Good communication skills.
- Ability to multitask.
- Attention to detail.
- Ability to use a computer terminal and other office equipment effectively.
- Regularly able to talk and hear, sit for extended periods, and perform continuous data-entry functions.
Responsibilities
- Administer the routing system by manually routing orders using RoadNet.
- Perform maintenance on the routing system.
- Set up new accounts in the routing system.
- Print and sort pick tickets for distribution to shippers.
- Perform dispatching functions.
- Reconcile driver manifests.
- Field incoming calls from drivers and customer service.
- Gather and record delivery time information and delivery status on selected accounts.
- Route orders for next-day deliveries and assist with other transportation department functions.
