About The Position

The Route Auditor rides with drivers on scheduled commercial or residential routes to identify operating efficiencies, ensure accurate customer billing, find opportunities to increase service and revenue, and identify potential safety hazards. Based on audit findings, the Route Auditor recommends improvements to route scheduling, service capabilities, and other processes to enhance the customer experience. The role includes collecting route data, checking billing details, using route-planning software, preparing reports, and entering audit findings into the customer database.

Requirements

Two years of experience as a commercial driver or waste industry helper.
Experience in a customer-facing position.
Good time-management skills to complete assigned responsibilities efficiently and safely.
Good follow-through, including adherence to the work schedule and addressing challenges as they arise.
Working knowledge of Microsoft Office products.

Responsibilities

Ride with assigned drivers on commercial and/or residential routes and collect data such as travel times, disposal volumes, service and collection times, and route-sheet accuracy.
Check actual container weight, container size, and weekly pickup frequency to verify customer billing; report discrepancies to Sales, Customer Service, and/or Accounts Receivable.
Identify opportunities for additional revenue and inform Sales and/or Customer Service.
Use the Route Editor program to identify overlapping routes and recommend operating-efficiency improvements.
Identify route-related safety hazards and recommend changes.
Recommend container repairs or replacements as needed.
Prepare detailed reports of audit findings and review audit data and recommended improvements with the General Manager and department managers.
Enter route audit findings into the customer database.
Perform other job-related duties as assigned.
