Route Auditor
About The Position
The Route Auditor rides with drivers on scheduled commercial and/or residential routes to identify operating efficiencies, ensure accurate customer billing, and find opportunities to increase service and improve safety. Based on audit findings, the role recommends changes to route scheduling, service capabilities, and other practices to improve the customer experience. The Route Auditor gathers route data, checks customer billing details, identifies additional revenue opportunities and safety hazards, and prepares and enters detailed audit findings. The role also performs other job-related duties as assigned.
Requirements
- Two years of experience as a commercial driver or waste industry helper.
- Experience in a customer-facing position.
- Good time management skills to complete assigned responsibilities efficiently and safely.
- Good follow-through ability, including adherence to the work schedule and addressing challenges as they arise.
- Working knowledge of Microsoft Office products.
Responsibilities
- Ride with assigned drivers on commercial and/or residential routes and gather data such as travel times, disposal volumes, service and collection times, and route-sheet accuracy to reduce costs, improve revenue, and reduce safety hazards.
- Verify customer billing by checking actual container weight, container size, and weekly pickup frequency; notify Sales, Customer Service, and/or Accounts Receivable of discrepancies.
- Identify opportunities for additional revenue and inform Sales and/or Customer Service.
- Use the Route Editor program to identify overlapping routes and recommend operating-efficiency improvements.
- Identify route-related safety hazards and recommend changes.
- Recommend container repairs or replacements as needed.
- Prepare detailed reports of route audit findings and review audit data and recommended improvements with the General Manager and department managers.
- Enter route audit findings into the customer database.
- Perform other job-related duties as assigned.
