Requirements

  • Journeyperson Instrumentation Certification
  • IRATA Rope Access certification or a willingness to obtain
  • Current safety certifications as required in BC
  • Located in Kitimat BC or willing to relocate
  • Strong knowledge of cryogenic processes, industrial automation, and process control systems.
  • Experience with DCS, PLC, and ESD systems (e.g., Honeywell, Emerson, Yokogawa, Allen-Bradley).
  • Proficient in reading P&IDs, loop drawings, and electrical schematics.
  • Knowledge of CSA, API, and ISA standards related to instrumentation and hazardous locations.
  • Strong troubleshooting, analytical thinking, and documentation skills.

Nice To Haves

  • Computer literacy with CMMS systems and digital calibration tools.
  • Effective communication and teamwork skills.
  • Familiarity with hazardous area classifications and intrinsically safe equipment.
  • Understanding of LNG process safety management systems and permit-to-work procedures.
  • Experience supporting commissioning and shutdown activities.
  • Proficiency/experience in trades/industrial settings
  • Familiarity with LNG (Liquefied Natural Gas) operations

Responsibilities

  • Calibrate and verify accuracy of pressure, temperature, flow, and level transmitters on cryogenic systems, compressors, and LNG storage tanks to ensure reliable process control.
  • Diagnose faults in DCS, PLC, and ESD (Emergency Shutdown) systems, tracing signal issues or sensor failures that could impact process safety or production efficiency.
  • Carry out regular inspections and servicing of instruments, analyzers (e.g., gas chromatographs, moisture analyzers), and control valves to minimize downtime and ensure safe operations.
  • Participate in commissioning new systems, loop checking, and function testing during plant startups or planned shutdowns, ensuring all instrumentation meets LNG operational standards.
  • Maintain accurate calibration records, loop diagrams, and maintenance logs in accordance with site procedures, ISO standards, and regulatory requirements for hazardous environments.
