About The Position

BHE GT&S is hiring for a multilevel instrumentation technician position at its Cove Point facility in Lusby, Maryland. The successful candidate will be placed at the Associate, LNG Technician, or Senior level based on demonstrated competencies, qualifications, and relevant experience. The role reports directly to the Supervisor-LNG Operations (Instrumentation) and is part of a multidisciplined team responsible for safe, compliant, and reliable operation and maintenance of instrumentation equipment at an LNG import/export and regasification terminal. Equipment and systems include LNG process infrastructure, emergency response systems, power and steam generation rotating machinery, and auxiliary control support systems. The technician maintains, troubleshoots, repairs, and upgrades complex instrumentation and control equipment typically found in large industrial and hydrocarbon facilities. The role supports facility reliability and regulatory compliance, works closely with Operations and Distributed Control System teams, and contributes to continuous improvement and cross-functional coordination. A strong commitment to safety and established protocols is essential. The position may require on-call work and rotating shifts, including nights, weekends, and holidays. Requirements

Associate level: 0–2 years of experience in an industrial setting in a mechanical field where hands-on craft experience is gained.
LNG Technician level: Three years of instrumentation and controls experience in an industrial setting.
Senior level: Five years of experience in an industrial setting working in an industrial and/or controls setting or a similar related field; related military experience is included.
For the Senior level, basic understanding of the Distributed Control System and LNG process systems.
For the Senior level, basic understanding of plant utilities, including air, water, power generation, sanitation, and nitrogen.
Applied knowledge of automatic control instruments such as pressure, temperature, and flow transmitters; pressure gauges; thermometers; regulators; valves; control systems; and similar components found in a power station.
Competency in preventive maintenance, flue-gas testing, reading meters, and recording data as required.
Previous work experience demonstrating technical knowledge of control instrumentation.
Knowledge of environmental regulations.
Ability to perform laboratory equipment calibration.
Basic computer skills and strong knowledge of Microsoft Word and Excel.
Analytical and deductive reasoning, oral and written communication, technical writing, instrumentation, and mathematical skills.
Ability to troubleshoot and solve equipment or process problems.

High school diploma; an associate degree is preferred.
Must apply for and maintain a Transportation Worker Identification Credential (TWIC) card in good standing.
If filled at the Associate or Mid-Level, recommended test results from the EEI Power Plant Maintenance Selection System (MASS) are required.

Nice To Haves

Recent LNG experience; petrochemical NGL, cryogenic natural gas processing, or hydrocarbon processing experience may also be acceptable.
Experience with CEMS or gas chromatograph equipment.
Experience with instrument corrosion technology, power generation, LNG production or processing, or petrochemical industries.
I&C craft, lead, or supervisor experience, or journeyman-level-or-higher operations experience in LNG production or processing, power generation, or petrochemical industries.
Completion of a formal I&C craft or other formal craft training program.
CEMS experience.

Maximo and Oracle experience.

Responsibilities

Perform proactive and preventive maintenance in accordance with industry best practices, manufacturer recommendations, and regulatory requirements, including FERC, PHMSA, NFPA, USCG, MDOL, MDE, and EPA requirements.
Maintain safety, environmental compliance, and facility reliability while recognizing the consequences of maintenance actions.
Work with and support Operations and Distributed Control System teams by providing instrumentation and controls expertise.
Respond to instrumentation and controls issues affecting operations; assist with start-ups, shutdowns, and abnormal operating conditions; and implement reliability and performance improvements.
Calibrate, troubleshoot, diagnose, repair, replace, and upgrade complex instrumentation and control equipment in the field.
Perform preventive, compliance, and corrective maintenance using digital multimeters, manometers, loop calibrators, gauges, and similar test equipment.
Read, interpret, and maintain instrumentation and controls drawings and configuration-control documentation.
Work with the site I&C Engineer to submit drawing and configuration changes through the site's modification and Management of Change process.
Support installation, testing, and start-up of new instrumentation equipment.
Attend required on-site and off-site training and complete assigned self-study and qualification programs to maintain technical and safety certifications.
Use the Maximo and Oracle computerized maintenance management systems to manage assets, work orders, inventory, and scheduling.
Develop a solid understanding of instrumentation and controls equipment associated with LNG liquefaction, regasification, ship loading, and power generation processes.
May assist with developing, implementing, and executing instrumentation and controls policies and procedures.
May be required to work on-call and rotating shifts, including nights, weekends, and holidays.
Perform other duties as assigned.
