About The Position

Serves completed meal trays to patients professionally and efficiently, instructs patients on the meal-ordering system, and helps patients or family members place meal orders when needed. The role also keeps nursing-unit floor pantries stocked, completes bulk floor-supply orders, retrieves meals from patients’ rooms, checks meals for accuracy and compliance with diet orders, works on the tray assembly line, and follows proper food-handling techniques according to HACCP and local agencies.

Requirements

• High school graduate or equivalent.
• Three months of food service experience.
• Ability to read, measure accurately, and perform basic math skills.
• Ability to communicate clearly and concisely.

Responsibilities

• Serve meals to patients in a professional and efficient manner.
• Assist patients and/or family members in placing meal orders.
• Complete orders of bulk floor supplies on nursing units.
• Retrieve completed meals from patients’ rooms in a timely manner.
• Check meals for accuracy and adherence to appropriate diet orders.
• Work positions on the tray assembly line.
• Follow proper food-handling techniques according to HACCP and local agencies.
• Instruct patients on the meal-ordering system and assist them with orders as needed.
• Keep nursing-unit floor pantries stocked.
