About The Position

The Room Attendant works with the Housekeeping Management Team to clean guest rooms and public areas and may work in the commercial laundry facility. The role follows brand standards for time, products, and placement to ensure guest satisfaction. Room Attendants deliver Sonesta service, respond to guest concerns and requests, and coordinate with supervisors and other departments. The position may involve morning, evening, weekend, and holiday work, as well as frequent physical activity and regular use of commercial cleaning chemicals.

Requirements

• Some previous housekeeping experience is preferred.
• Previous experience in the extended-stay industry is preferred.
• Ability to speak, read, and write fluent English is preferred; other languages are beneficial.
• Basic reading, writing, and mathematical abilities are preferred.
• Ability to frequently stand, bend, climb, kneel, and move about the facility.
• Ability to carry, lift, or pull items weighing up to 75 pounds.
• Ability to regularly use commercial cleaning chemicals.
• Availability to work mornings, evenings, weekends, and holidays.

Responsibilities

• Deliver Sonesta service in guest and client interactions according to Sonesta G.U.E.S.T. standards.
• Respond to guest complaints and special requests, taking corrective action to achieve guest satisfaction.
• Clean and service assigned rooms or areas according to established standards, including making beds, dusting, vacuuming, sanitizing bathrooms, and removing trash.
• Clean kitchen areas and room appliances or supplies as needed, including refrigerators, microwaves, coffee makers, and dishware.
• Notify a supervisor when service is complete and report rooms that cannot be serviced according to procedure.
• When assigned to laundry, monitor supplies and equipment, operate washers and dryers according to standards and manufacturer guidelines, inspect soiled linens, fold and store clean linens, and report damaged items.
• Minimize waste of housekeeping supplies and amenities.
• Assist with deep-cleaning projects as needed.
• Report needed repairs and unsafe conditions to a supervisor.
• Handle lost-and-found items according to established procedures.
• Promote teamwork and quality service through daily communication and coordination with other shifts and departmental management.
• Ensure compliance with applicable federal, state, and local health and safety laws.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
