About The Position

The Food and Beverage Attendant contributes to the hotel’s mission and overall success by meeting performance objectives for its breakfast and evening social venues. The role sets up, services, and breaks down food and beverage buffet areas while maintaining quality, consistency, and service standards, and acts as a host in interactions with hotel guests. The attendant prepares and transports food, beverages, supplies, and equipment; monitors and replenishes buffet and event-service items; prepares salads, sandwiches, and soups for sale in the shoppe; and provides food and beverage service at meetings and events. The role also maintains clean, organized work and service areas, handles food and equipment safely, and reports equipment problems and safety or maintenance concerns. Employees must comply with applicable laws, brand standards, and hotel requirements, including those for food safety, sanitation, workplace safety, and alcohol service.

Requirements

Previous food and beverage experience preferred.
Previous hotel-industry experience preferred.
Fluent spoken, written, and reading English required.
Basic reading, writing, and mathematical skills preferred.
Ability to frequently stand, bend, climb, kneel, and move throughout the facility.
Ability to lift, carry, or pull items weighing up to 75 pounds.
Ability to safely handle and regularly use commercial cleaning chemicals.
Must obtain and maintain ServSafe certification as required for the position.
May be required to obtain TIPS certification, depending on job responsibilities.
Availability to work mornings, evenings, weekends, and holidays.

Responsibilities

Deliver Sonesta Service in guest and client interactions according to Sonesta G.U.E.S.T. standards.
Prepare and transport food, beverages, supplies, equipment, and materials to and from buffet areas.
Monitor buffet areas, meeting rooms, and event spaces for adequate food, beverages, plates, utensils, napkins, condiments, and other service items, replenishing them as necessary.
Follow established preparation methods, timing, quality, and presentation standards, including taste, appearance, texture, serving temperatures, portion sizes, and garnishing.
Prepare salads, sandwiches, and soups for sale in the shoppe.
Welcome guests proactively and respond to requests promptly and professionally; refer serious concerns or issues to management as appropriate.
Follow procedures for secure handling and proper storage of food, beverages, inventory, and equipment to minimize waste.
Maintain clean, neat, and organized work and buffet areas, including kitchen equipment, service areas, walls, floors, and counters.
Empty trash receptacles and clean and clear tables as needed.
Check equipment and machinery to ensure they are in proper working condition and report unsafe or malfunctioning equipment, safety hazards, and maintenance or repair needs to supervisors.
Assist with setup and breakdown of meeting rooms and event spaces.
Provide food and beverage service and maintain clean, organized service areas throughout meetings and events.
Comply with applicable federal, state, and local laws and regulations, brand standards, and hotel requirements concerning food safety, sanitation, cleanliness, workplace safety, and alcohol service.
Perform other duties as assigned.
