About The Position

Rooftop Gardens is seeking a dedicated and enthusiastic Hydroponic Farming Assistant to support daily operations at its hydroponic farm in Des Moines, Iowa. This part-time role involves helping maintain plant health and productivity, assisting with hydroponic systems, and supporting the team with farming-related tasks. It is suited to someone interested in sustainable agriculture and willing to learn; training in hydroponic farming principles will be provided.

Requirements

• Basic understanding of hydroponic farming principles; training will be provided.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
• Strong attention to detail and problem-solving skills.
• Physical ability to perform farming tasks, including lifting and bending.
• Good communication skills.
• Good basic hygiene.
• Passion for sustainable agriculture and willingness to learn.

Responsibilities

• Assist in setting up and maintaining hydroponic systems.
• Monitor plant health and growth, including checking nutrient levels and pH balance.
• Support quality control efforts.
• Perform routine cleaning and maintenance of equipment and growing areas.
• Help with planting, harvesting, and packaging produce.
• Record data on plant growth and system performance.
• Follow safety protocols and maintain a clean work environment.
• Follow uniform and hygiene expectations.
• Support the team with other farming-related tasks as needed.
