About The Position

The Roll Machine Operator sets up, operates, and monitors roll-forming machinery to produce metal parts and components according to customer specifications. The role is responsible for meeting quality standards, maintaining a safe work environment, and performing basic troubleshooting and machine adjustments to support efficient production. Employees build expertise and take on additional responsibilities and training as they progress through trainee, apprentice, qualified, certified, and master levels. The schedule is second shift, 3:30 p.m. to 2:00 a.m., Monday through Thursday. Earning potential is $25 per hour for trainees to $29.25 per hour for certified operators, plus a $1.00 shift differential. At the trainee level, employees operate rolling machines, load and unload parts, perform instructed quality checks, assist with minor adjustments and coil changes, follow safety practices, and keep the work area organized. They learn quality and production systems, documentation, material handling, feeder and reel operations, coil welding, and lubrication practices. Apprentices operate roll-forming machines, adjust pre-pierce, roll, and cut-off tooling, manage machine speed, and produce parts using measuring tools with support from a lead or inspector. Qualified operators run non-pre-notch lines, set up and operate equipment, inspect parts, maintain machines and coolant, complete job tear-downs and setup charts, and apply SPC. Certified operators independently perform qualified-level work and take on additional tooling, scheduling, process, and certification duties. Master operators independently set up any job in the division, apply advanced SPC and blueprint-reading skills, program feeders, troubleshoot equipment and tooling, and train and support other operators. The employer is voestalpine Roll Forming Corporation, a supplier of custom roll-formed metal components serving industries including aerospace, construction, material handling, off-highway, office furniture, solar, and transportation. The company is part of voestalpine AG’s Metal Forming, Tubes and Sections division and has seven production facilities across Kentucky, Pennsylvania, and Indiana.
