Winter 2027 Robotics Engineer Co-op

Anduril•Quincy, MA
•Onsite

About The Position

Anduril’s Maritime Division develops software and hardware for autonomous maritime systems, including underwater vehicles and a flexible manufacturing architecture. The division’s products include Dive-XL, Dive-LD, Copperhead, Seabed Sentry, and other systems. Robotics Engineers help deliver vehicle perception and planning capabilities integrated into these products, contributing across the product lifecycle from architecture and design through delivery, support, and evolution. The work encompasses systems analysis, sensor selection and integration, perception architecture and implementation, motion planning, health management, behavior analysis, simulation and test infrastructure, and interfaces with lower- and higher-level systems. Engineers develop safe navigation, collision avoidance, situational awareness, and scalable subsystems, and use computer vision, sensor fusion, and machine learning to improve vehicle capabilities. They also validate algorithms with simulation and real-world experimental data, evolve data-analysis tools, and collaborate with software, mechanical, and systems engineers. This is a 16–24-week in-person co-op in winter 2027 at one of Anduril’s offices. Candidates must be pursuing a bachelor’s or master’s degree and return to school for at least one quarter or semester after the co-op.

Requirements

  • Pursuing a bachelor’s or master’s degree in Robotics, Mechatronics, Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field.
  • Returning to school at the end of the co-op to continue academic studies for at least one quarter or semester.
  • Must be a U.S. Person due to required access to U.S. export-controlled information or facilities; U.S. clearance eligibility may be required depending on program.
  • Ability to complete a 16–24-week in-person co-op in one of Anduril’s offices in winter 2027.

Nice To Haves

  • Proficiency in C++ and/or Python software development.
  • Familiarity with autonomous vehicle hardware and sensors such as radar, sonar, LiDAR, and cameras.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of at least one of computer vision, sensor fusion, SLAM, motion planning, or machine learning.
  • Ability to collaborate with stakeholders to define and implement robust validation and verification strategies for perception and planning modules.
  • Experience with autonomous systems in the ground, air, maritime, or space domains.
  • Experience with simulation tools and frameworks such as Gazebo, Unity, or Unreal Engine for algorithm validation and testing.
  • Knowledge of safety standards and certification processes for autonomous systems.
  • Familiarity with systems engineering concepts.

Responsibilities

  • Implement safe navigation, collision avoidance, and situational awareness systems that balance constraints, restrictions, and requirements in a multi-stakeholder environment.
  • Develop scalable subsystems, including sensor processing, perception, tracking, motion planning, health management, anomaly detection, simulation, testing fixtures, and vehicle interfaces.
  • Contribute to existing software components and develop reusable components across Anduril product lines.
  • Apply computer vision, sensor fusion, and machine learning techniques to enhance vehicle perception and planning capabilities.
  • Test and validate perception and planning algorithms using simulation and analysis of real-world experiment data, and evolve data-analysis tooling.
  • Collaborate with software, mechanical, and systems engineers to support effective system integration and testing.
  • Contribute to the architecture, design, delivery, support, and evolution of autonomous platforms throughout their product lifecycle.

Benefits

  • Competitive hourly compensation of $42–$60 USD.
  • Highly competitive equity grants are included in the majority of full-time offers.
  • Anduril describes its benefits package for full-time employees as comprehensive and competitive, available at little to no cost to employees.
