About The Position

International Motors is hiring a Robotic Weld Engineer in San Antonio, Texas, to serve as the primary welding engineering resource on the night production shift. This hands-on role supports manufacturing operations by optimizing robotic weld cells, supporting FANUC robotic systems, troubleshooting welding and automation issues on the production floor, minimizing downtime, restoring production, and implementing improvements to safety, quality, and operational performance. The night shift is scheduled Monday through Thursday, from 5:30 PM to 4:00 AM, with production planned to begin in early 2027. This salaried position supports manufacturing operations. Employees may need to work outside normal production hours, including extended shifts, production startup activities, recovery efforts, and occasional weekends, as required by business needs. A 10% shift differential applies upon transition to the night-shift schedule. The role partners with Operations, Maintenance, Quality, Engineering, and suppliers to resolve welding issues and improve processes. It also supports launches, equipment commissioning, process validation, and production readiness as operations expand.

Responsibilities

  • Serve as the night-shift welding technical expert, resolving robotic and manual welding issues hands-on on the production floor.
  • Troubleshoot robotic weld cells, weld schedules, process parameters, fit-up, and equipment issues.
  • Lead weld repair and containment when defects threaten production, using hands-on manual welding expertise.
  • Ensure repairs for cold welds, holes, missing welds, and other defects follow approved methods and quality standards.
