Seasonal ED RNs are Scripps Health employees hired into a temporary, limited-tenure position rather than as travelers. The initial contract term is 13 weeks, with possible extensions of 4, 8, or 13 weeks based on organizational needs and the RN’s availability. Seasonal assignments may not exceed 26 total weeks. After completing 26 weeks, the RN must leave the organization for at least six months before returning to another seasonal role. They may instead apply for available permanent core or SSRS positions. Seasonal hires work full-time hours consisting of three 12-hour shifts per week. Unit, location, and shift assignments are determined by operational needs and unit requests; staff do not choose their assignments. RNs may be assigned to a specific unit for an entire contract or to the SSRS ED RN float pool, covering a variety of Scripps emergency departments and urgent care locations. Assignments typically remain at one location and on one shift during the initial 13-week contract. For extensions, continued need at the current location is considered first; otherwise, an extension may be offered at another site. The flat base rate is $68.03 per hour. A night shift differential of $7.24 per hour applies to hours worked between 7:00 PM and 7:00 AM. Benefits are available beginning on day 60, if elected. Seasonal RNs may qualify for contract completion bonuses: $2,700 for a four-week extension, $5,500 for an eight-week extension, and $9,000 for a 13-week extension. To receive a completion bonus, the RN must successfully complete the limited-tenure agreement, complete 408 hours, and have no formal corrective actions on file. The position is eligible for new-hire and relocation incentives, subject to stated eligibility criteria; seasonal positions are also eligible for completion incentives.
