About The Position

Lutheran Care Center at Poughkeepsie is hiring per diem RN Supervisors for evening shifts. The supervisor will oversee patients and manage the facility’s nursing team, supporting smooth day-to-day nursing operations and long-term planning. The role calls for strong clinical and managerial skills, empathy, interpersonal awareness, initiative, and the ability to handle stressful situations. Experience is welcomed but the facility is willing to train the right candidate. New graduates are welcome. Employees must be fully vaccinated for COVID-19, MMR, and PPD.

Requirements

Valid New York State RN license.
In-depth knowledge of hospital procedures.
Thorough knowledge of legal regulations and best practices in healthcare.
Team management skills.
Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
Excellent organizational and problem-solving skills.
Ability to handle stressful situations.
Empathy, interpersonal awareness, and initiative.
Employees must be fully vaccinated for COVID-19, MMR, and PPD.

Nice To Haves

Experience as a nursing supervisor in a sub-acute or long-term care setting; the facility is willing to train the right candidate.
Training in healthcare administration.
Further training in management or administration.

Responsibilities

Schedule LPN and CNA shifts.
Assign nurses to patients.
Ensure nursing operational standards are met.
Provide reports on productivity, quality, and customer service metrics.
Ensure nurses follow policies and procedures.
Train new team members.
Evaluate nurses’ performance.
Inform family members about medical procedures and doctors’ instructions.
Handle complaints and other issues.
Provide psychological support to patients, family members, and friends, helping establish a compassionate environment.
Maintain records of nurses’ files, patients’ cases, and procedures.
