Piedmont Walton invites RN students graduating in Fall 2026 or Spring 2027 to an Open House/Interview Day. The event includes an educational presentation about the PHC Transition to Practice Program, a question-and-answer session with hospital leaders, and onsite interviews with Med-Surg and Emergency Department leaders. Event details are provided after applicants submit an application. The 12-month Nurse Residency program supports the transition from student to professional nurse through education, mentorship, peer support, precepted orientation with dedicated preceptors, and blended learning. It prepares new graduate nurses with the knowledge, skills, and behaviors needed to improve quality and safety at the point of care. Residents develop clinical judgment to recognize changes in patients’ conditions and the urgency of clinical situations, build communication skills to engage colleagues and support patients, participate in cohort experiences that foster peer and professional socialization, and learn didactic content tailored to new graduates by professional nursing organizations. Opportunities are available in Acute Care, Critical Care, Emergency Department, Women’s Services, Cardiovascular/Progressive Care, Surgical Services, Transplant, and other areas. The staff nurse provides nursing care to patients from birth through the lifecycle by assessing, planning, implementing, and evaluating care. The nurse works within organizational policies and procedures, demonstrates professional growth and accountability, maintains standards of practice, and coordinates assigned staff’s patient-care activities to provide quality nursing care.
