About The Position

Northside Gwinnett’s Inpatient Surgery department is a 24-hour service unit at a Level II Trauma Center with 14 operating rooms. The department primarily oversees Orthopedic, Neuro/Ortho Spine, General, Oral, Urology, Gynecological, and Vascular specialties, with a limited number of Plastics, Eyes, ENT, and Thoracic cases. Robotic-assisted surgeries using the da Vinci Xi are offered in Urology, General, and Gynecological services.

The Registered Professional Nurse independently plans and provides professional nursing care to patients in accordance with physician orders, established guidelines, and the scope of practice defined by the Georgia Nurse Practice Act. Shifts of 8, 10, and 12 hours are available. Call is required for most positions, including weekday call from 3:00 p.m. to 7:00 a.m., 48-hour weekend call from 7:00 a.m. to 7:00 a.m., and call or in-house requirements for holidays. Work hours vary.

Requirements

• Graduate of an accredited school of nursing.
• Licensed as a Registered Nurse in the State of Georgia in good standing without limitations.
• Certified in the American Heart Association’s Basic Cardiac Life Support (BLS).

Nice To Haves

• Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) degree.
• Two years of experience as a Registered Professional Nurse (RN).
• Additional life support credential (ACLS, PALS, NRP, etc.) or other clinical specialty certifications in specific units.
• Visual color acuity, depending on the role in specific units.

Responsibilities

• Independently plan and provide professional nursing care to patients in accordance with physician orders and established guidelines.
• Practice within the scope defined by the Georgia Nurse Practice Act.
• Meet applicable call and holiday in-house requirements.
