About The Position

Finger Lakes Health’s New Graduate Critical Care Residency Program provides a structured transition into the ICU environment, combining hands-on clinical experience, dedicated preceptorship, education, and ongoing support. Join our February 2027 Critical Care Residency Cohort and build the knowledge, confidence, and clinical skills needed to care for critically ill patients. The Registered Nurse in Critical Care provides comprehensive, compassionate nursing care to patients requiring close monitoring and advanced clinical intervention. The ICU RN utilizes nursing theory, clinical expertise, critical-thinking skills, and effective communication to assess patient needs, develop and implement individualized plans of care, evaluate patient responses, and collaborate with physicians and the interdisciplinary healthcare team. Working in the ICU provides an opportunity to develop advanced nursing skills while caring for patients with complex and potentially life-threatening medical conditions. Our Critical Care Residency is designed to provide new graduate nurses with the education, clinical experience, and support needed to build a strong foundation in intensive care nursing.

Requirements

  • Graduate of an approved school of Registered Professional Nursing
  • Current New York State Registered Professional Nurse (RN) license required
  • RN license must be active at least two weeks prior to the residency start date
  • New graduate RNs are encouraged to apply
  • Strong interest in Critical Care/ICU nursing

  • BSN preferred
  • Prior LPN experience may be considered when determining starting rate

Responsibilities

  • Provide comprehensive, compassionate nursing care to patients requiring close monitoring and advanced clinical intervention.

  • Develop and implement individualized plans of care.

  • Provide compassionate care to patients and their families during critical illness.
