About The Position

Finger Lakes Health’s New Graduate RN Residency Program provides the support, education, hands-on experience, and mentorship needed to transition confidently from nursing school into professional practice. This program is designed to help new graduates build clinical knowledge, confidence, and critical-thinking skills. Residents will work alongside experienced nurses and dedicated preceptors, and have opportunities for continued learning, professional growth, shared governance, leadership development, and access to an on-site College of Nursing. The program fosters a culture that recognizes nurses for their dedication and exceptional patient care, offering competitive compensation and benefits, including a $41.93/hour hire rate, bonuses, and tuition assistance. The specific unit for this residency is III North Surgical, which provides care for patients with a variety of medical and surgical conditions, serving adult, adolescent, and geriatric populations. RNs on this unit develop strong clinical skills, provide patient and family education, and contribute to creating a healing environment.

Requirements

  • Graduate of an approved school of Registered Professional Nursing
  • Current New York State Registered Professional Nurse (RN) license required
  • RN license must be active at least two weeks prior to the residency start date
  • New graduate RNs are encouraged to apply

Nice To Haves

  • BSN preferred
  • Prior LPN experience may be considered when determining starting rate

Responsibilities

  • Utilizes nursing theory, technical expertise, and effective communication skills to deliver high-quality, compassionate care to patients and their families.
  • Assesses patient needs.
  • Collaborates with the interdisciplinary team to develop and implement individualized plans of care.
  • Provides direct patient care.
  • Evaluates patient outcomes.
  • Coordinates care throughout the patient's entire episode of treatment.
  • Provides patient and family education to promote understanding of self-care following hospitalization, including lifestyle changes that support ongoing health and healing.
  • Creates a healing environment by promoting patient comfort, providing emotional support, and partnering with patients and families throughout their hospital stay.
