About The Position

Finger Lakes Health’s New Graduate RN Residency Program provides the support, education, hands-on experience, and mentorship needed to transition confidently from nursing school into professional practice. This program is designed for newly licensed Registered Nurses ready to begin their nursing career. The February 2027 Residency Cohort offers a structured residency experience to build clinical knowledge, confidence, and critical-thinking skills. It includes hands-on mentorship from experienced nurses and dedicated preceptors, opportunities for continued learning, professional growth, shared governance, leadership development, and access to an on-site College of Nursing. The program fosters a culture that recognizes nurses for their dedication and exceptional patient care, with opportunities like the DAISY Award. The II West unit provides care for patients with a variety of medical and surgical conditions, offering new graduate nurses an excellent opportunity to develop a strong foundation in medical-surgical nursing. RNs on this unit will care for a diverse adult patient population, developing essential clinical skills in assessment, medication administration, care planning, patient education, interdisciplinary collaboration, and clinical decision-making. They will also provide patient and family education to promote understanding of self-care following hospitalization and lifestyle changes to support ongoing health and healing. RNs play an important role in creating a healing environment by promoting patient comfort, providing emotional support, and partnering with patients and families.

Requirements

  • Graduate of an approved school of Registered Professional Nursing
  • Current New York State Registered Professional Nurse (RN) license required
  • RN license must be active at least two weeks prior to the residency start date
  • New graduate RNs are encouraged to apply

Nice To Haves

  • BSN preferred
  • Prior LPN experience may be considered when determining starting rate
