About The Position

Finger Lakes Health’s New Graduate Critical Care Residency Program – Emergency Room provides the structured education, hands-on clinical experience, preceptorship, and support you need to transition confidently from nursing school into professional emergency nursing practice. Join our February 2027 Emergency Room Residency Cohort and develop the clinical skills and confidence needed to care for patients with a wide range of urgent and emergent conditions. The Registered Nurse in the Emergency Department provides timely, compassionate, and evidence-based nursing care to patients presenting with illnesses, injuries, and medical emergencies. The ER RN performs comprehensive assessments, identifies changes in patient condition, prioritizes care based on patient acuity, implements appropriate interventions, evaluates patient responses, and collaborates closely with physicians and the interdisciplinary healthcare team. Emergency nursing provides new graduate RNs with the opportunity to develop a broad clinical foundation while caring for patients across a wide range of ages, diagnoses, and acuity levels. Our Emergency Room Residency is designed to provide new graduate nurses with the education, clinical experience, and support needed to develop a strong foundation in emergency nursing.

Requirements

  • Graduate of an approved school of Registered Professional Nursing
  • Current New York State Registered Professional Nurse (RN) license required
  • RN license must be active at least two weeks prior to the residency start date
  • New graduate RNs are encouraged to apply
  • Strong interest in Emergency Nursing

Nice To Haves

  • BSN preferred
  • Prior LPN experience may be considered when determining starting rate
