About The Position

The Registered Nurse (RN) ED Flex provides nursing care to patients utilizing the nursing process and standards of practice for a professional nurse at all Urgent Care and/or Emergency Departments at UF Health Jacksonville. The RN is expected to perform all staff nurse activities and function as charge nurse when assigned. The RN maintains overall accountability/responsibility for assigned patients, even though some activities/tasks may be delegated to Technical Nurses, Patient Care Associates, and/or Sitters. Assignments are performed appropriately to age and developmental level of patients being served.

Requirements

  • Associate’s degree in Nursing.
  • Current licensure as RN in Florida or valid licensure in one of the states under the Enhanced Nurse Licensure Compact (eNLC). If licensed under the eNLC, must obtain FL RN licensure within 90 days of becoming a Florida resident.
  • BLS from the American Heart Association.
  • ACLS from the American Heart Association.
  • PALS and NRP required within six (6) months of hire or transfer (effective July 1, 2018). Existing employees are required to have the certifications by December 31, 2018.
  • ED Fellowship RN's must obtain their ACLS, PALS and NRP within six (6) months of hire or transfer.
  • Minimum 2 years’ experience as RN in Emergency Room or ICU.
  • Demonstrates the ability to learn and apply computer technologies and procedures that affect patient care delivery.

Nice To Haves

  • BSN degree from an accredited school of nursing within three (3) years of hire or transfer into the position (for new hires effective June 14, 2017).
  • BSN
  • CEN or TNCC preferred
  • 5 or more years’ experience of Emergency Room RN
