Our Toronto office is seeking undergraduate students to join the team as a Co-op or Summer Intern in Winter 2027, Summer 2027 or Fall 2027 as part of our Risk Services, Forensic Technology practice. KPMG’s Forensic Technology team is a fast-growing practice that has received significant investment and is positioned as a key driver of the firm’s growth over the next five years. Joining this team provides an excellent opportunity to gain hands-on experience in digital investigations, eDiscovery, and data analysis, while learning from experienced forensics professionals in a collaborative, high-performing environment. As part of the Forensics Technology team, you’ll assist in the identification, acquisition, processing, and analysis of digital evidence across a wide range of matters. This may include supporting the execution of court orders, assisting with data collections and processing for eDiscovery projects, analyzing digital media, and helping prepare documentation and reports used in investigations and legal proceedings. You’ll work closely with professionals in both the eDIscovery and cybersecurity practices, learning how to apply a structured, defensible approach to handling digital evidence.

Requirements

  • Currently completing a Bachelor’s degree/ Diploma in Computer Science, IT, or related field.
  • Strong interest in digital forensics, eDiscovery, or cybersecurity investigations, with relevant coursework or practical experience.
  • Solid understanding of operation system structures and artifacts (i.e. Windows, macOS, or Linux).
  • Working knowledge of file systems (i.e. NTFS, FAT, HFS+) and common data storage principles.
  • Experience with scripting (i.e. Python) or automation through coursework or projects.
  • Familiarity with at least one forensic tool (i.e. EnCase, Magnet Axiom, X-Ways, FTK, Cellebrite, or IEF).
  • Strong analytical thinking, attention to detail, and ability to document technical findings clearly and accurately.
  • Hands-on experience from digital forensics or incident response labs, class projects, or prior co-op placements.
  • Exposure to eDiscovery or data processing platforms such as Relativity and/or NUIX
  • Understanding of data preservation, evidence handling, and forensic acquisition techniques.
  • Knowledge of databases or structured data formats (i.e. SQL, JSON, XML).
  • You have a strong academic record and demonstrate intellectual curiosity through coursework, projects, or extracurricular involvement.
