About The Position

KPMG in Canada is seeking undergraduate students to join their Toronto office as a Co-op or Summer Intern in Winter 2027, Summer 2027, or Fall 2027 within the Risk Services, Actuarial practices. The program aims to develop future leaders through challenging work on client projects, offering authentic engagement experience. Interns will broaden their skill sets through KPMG's learning and development opportunities, including national Power Up programming for leadership learning and networking, and technical training, professional skills development, and mentorship. The actuarial student program specifically assists with progressing through actuarial exams, applying academic knowledge to current issues, and provides support for exams, study time, mentorship from credentialed actuaries, and exposure to diverse engagements in pension, insurance, and consulting.

Requirements

  • 2nd, 3rd or 4th year university student with a major in actuarial science, mathematics, statistics or finance, with interest in pursuing a recognized actuarial designation e.g. ACIA/FCIA
  • Knowledge of life contingencies and financial mathematics concepts
  • Strong technical skills in Excel
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English
  • Detail-oriented with exceptional organizational and time management skills
  • Highly motivated, committed self-starter who can prioritize work, multi-task and cope with changing priorities in an entrepreneurial environment
  • Strong academic record and demonstrate intellectual curiosity through coursework, projects, or extracurricular involvement.
  • Build collaborative relationships: Establish strong relationships internally and externally and contribute positively to team-based environments. Respect diverse perspectives and work effectively across functions.

  • Familiarity with AI‑enabled tools or analytics platforms is considered an asset, along with comfort in leveraging AI to enhance efficiency, generate insights, or support problem‑solving, and a demonstrated interest in how these technologies can be applied in professional settings.

Responsibilities

  • Analyzing defined benefit plan financial statement disclosures as part of year-end audits
  • Calculating benefit entitlements for retiring and terminating pension plan members
  • Compiling and analyzing actuarial assumption data for audit clients
  • Supporting projects such as acquisitions and valuations, as needed
