The Risk & Safety Analyst is responsible for supporting Forrest Logistics’ drayage brokerage operations through carrier compliance oversight, risk assessment, and operational support. This role focuses on protecting the company from safety, regulatory, financial, and operational risk by auditing active motor carriers, monitoring compliance requirements, and assisting with day-to-day risk management initiatives. The Risk & Safety Analyst works closely with internal operations teams, independent motor carriers, and third-party partners to ensure all carrier relationships meet Forrest’s internal standards as well as applicable DOT, FMCSA, UIIA, CBP, and customer requirements. Additional responsibilities include supporting in-bond shipment operations, sourcing and coordinating container yard solutions, reviewing carrier safety and insurance compliance, and assisting with issue resolution related to operational or compliance concerns.

Requirements

  • Strong sense of accountability, ownership, and professionalism, with the ability to operate independently and exercise sound judgment.
  • Experience in transportation, drayage, brokerage, carrier compliance, safety, or risk management environments preferred.
  • Working knowledge of DOT, FMCSA, UIIA, CBP, and insurance compliance requirements preferred.
  • Strong analytical and risk assessment skills, with the ability to identify and evaluate carrier-related operational, regulatory, and financial risks.
  • Ability to review and interpret carrier compliance documentation, insurance coverage, safety data, and monitoring reports.
  • Strong organizational skills with high attention to detail and documentation accuracy.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to multitask and prioritize effectively in fast-paced operational environments.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, particularly Excel, Outlook, and Word.
  • Bachelor’s degree preferred; equivalent transportation, brokerage, compliance, or risk management experience will be considered.

Responsibilities

  • Vet, onboard, audit, and continuously monitor motor carriers to ensure compliance with Forrest standards and all applicable regulatory, insurance, and customer requirements.
  • Analyze carrier safety performance, compliance history, insurance coverage, operational reliability, and overall risk exposure.
  • Maintain and verify carrier compliance records, including operating authority, insurance, safety ratings, equipment information, and monitoring documentation.
  • Identify elevated-risk carriers, compliance deficiencies, or adverse safety trends and assist with corrective action planning or carrier restriction decisions.
  • Partner with third-party compliance, insurance, and monitoring vendors to support ongoing carrier oversight and risk management initiatives.
  • Maintain accurate, organized, and audit-ready compliance documentation and reporting.
  • Support investigations involving cargo claims, safety incidents, compliance violations, or carrier-related operational failures.
  • Collaborate with operations and leadership teams to balance carrier capacity needs with company risk tolerance and compliance expectations.
  • Monitor industry regulations, carrier risk trends, and operational exposures, recommending process improvements and mitigation strategies when appropriate.
  • Communicate professionally with carriers, customers, vendors, and internal stakeholders regarding compliance and risk-related matters.
  • Perform additional duties and special projects as assigned.
