The Riding Academy Coach provides motorcycle safety training to participants using a specifically designed training format. Coaches teach risk awareness and acceptance, motorcycle controls, riding gear, basic riding skills, and street strategies. They give participants opportunities to practice a range of riding skills, administer motorcycle safety tests, and conduct graduation ceremonies. The role also includes providing excellent customer service and greeting customers promptly and courteously. Coaches are expected to follow directions, ask questions when uncertain, treat employees and customers fairly and respectfully, be honest in business dealings, and be prompt and available for flexible scheduling. The position requires organization, effective time management, professional appearance, and the ability to take, follow, and give directions and to see training and projects through to completion. The work takes place indoors and outdoors, often in loud conditions and varying extreme hot or cold weather. Coaches use both hands, work near moving mechanical parts, and may be exposed to battery acid, gasoline, chemical cleaning materials, exhaust fumes, dust, vibration, and other airborne particles. Physical duties include pushing and balancing motorcycles weighing 600 to 900 pounds, occasional bending, stooping, crouching, and reaching, and occasionally lifting 40 pounds.
