About The Position

Apple is seeking a self-motivated, passionate electrical engineer to design transistor-level analog and mixed-signal ICs for Apple Silicon across different technology nodes. The engineer will join a hands-on development team focused on custom analog designs that connect Apple products to the physical world and help optimize their performance. The role involves feasibility studies, circuit design, verification, layout, integration, production testing, and laboratory validation, with collaboration across teams.

Requirements

  • Bachelor of Science degree.
  • At least 10 years of relevant industry experience.
  • Strong device physics knowledge as applied to analog IC design.
  • Track record of delivering silicon IP, including architecture, design, verification, and validation.
  • Solid understanding or experience with bandgaps, bias circuits, op amps, switched-capacitor circuits, LDOs, low-power oscillators, PLLs, VGAs, feedback, and compensation techniques.
  • In-depth knowledge and analytical understanding of mixed-signal design techniques.
  • Experience with top-level verification methods incorporating block-level schematics and behavioral models.
  • Experience with C, MATLAB, Verilog-A, or Python modeling.
  • Hands-on experience using spectrum analyzers, oscilloscopes, and signal generators to validate analog designs.
  • Knowledge of high-precision techniques in the presence of device mismatch.
  • Understanding of data-converter architectures and design trade-offs.
  • Experience designing for ESD compliance and safety.
  • ASIC design experience in different application fields.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct transistor-level feasibility studies for analog and mixed-signal circuit blocks.
  • Design circuit blocks and document design simulations and verification for formal design reviews.
  • Drive mask design to implement layout views and lead layout reviews.
  • Run post-layout and top-level simulations to verify top-level integration.
  • Define production- and bench-level test plans.
  • Take laboratory measurements to validate performance against specifications.
  • Drive and review yield and laboratory test results to support bug fixes.
  • Work with Digital Design and Physical Design teams on chip integration.
  • Work with production test engineers to develop test plans and design-for-testability details.
